Seeing is Believing Series: Extending Reality: XR open day at White Light’s Studio 15 (powered by SmartStage)
Technical solutions specialist White Light (WL) is opening the doors to their Studio 15 broadcast facility, inviting practitioners from relevant sectors to experience extended reality (XR) technologies and techniques first-hand.
This session will be powered by WL’s SmartStage, as seen on Eurosport’s live studio coverage of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, and BBC’s Bamous – the first XR terrestrial television broadcast.
It will give professionals an end-to-end introduction to XR and demonstrate how it is being deployed across a diverse range of industries. We will explore topics such as:
- LED Volumes
- Virtual camera tracking
- Realtime rendered content
- Augmented reality graphics
We are seeing increasingly broad adoption of XR in multiple sectors, due to its powerful but small-form factor, which makes it truly unique within the virtual production sphere. Since 2017, SmartStage has evolved from an R + D experiment to a ground-breaking and multi-award-winning solution, which has revolutionised broadcasting in sports, entertainment, and current affairs.
In this 90-minute workshop, WL will guide us through this journey, to unveil the limitless potential for this technology to transform other sectors. We will also delve into where this XRevolution is headed, with a look at some of the latest applications and technological advances on the horizon.
Who it’s for
This session is aimed at anyone working in film, broadcast, HETV, or related sectors with a professional interest in virtual production and XR. It will provide valuable insights into the way these techniques and technologies are changing the content creation process across multiple industries and sectors.
