After over a week of silence, the actors union and the AMPTP are now set to return to negotiations on Tuesday, October 24th.
“SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP will meet for bargaining on Tuesday, October 24th at SAG-AFTRA Plaza. Several executives from AMPTP member companies will be in attendance,” read a statement today from SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP.
The negotiating committee commented on its website:
“It is clear that the strength and solidarity shown by our members has sent an unmistakable message to the CEOs. As we have repeatedly said, we are ready, willing and able to engage on a moment’s notice to meet and to work across the table to achieve a deal that is worthy of your sacrifice. Including this morning, just as our bi-annual SAG-AFTRA Convention is underway.”
As they had with the WGA in August, the studios left the SAG-AFTRA talks and announced them “suspended” on October 11th. SAG-AFTRA chief negotiator and national executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland said that he remained “optimistic” that both sides would sit across the table soon.
