J. Bruce Nielsen, a beloved family member, friend, and acclaimed cinematographer, died peacefully in Las Vegas on February 5th, 2024.
Born in Chicago on February 25, 1934, and raised in Los Angeles, Bruce led a distinguished career in entertainment in Los Angeles and Chicago. He served in The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Union and the International Photographers Guild, where he worked as a stagehand, director of photography, and cinematographer.
In addition, Bruce served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.
He did features, stage, film, and contributed to iconic television shows like The Dating Game, Diff’rent Strokes, The Facts Of Life, Who’s The Boss, and Full House. His vision and creativity behind the camera were instrumental in bringing the magic of these shows to life.
Bruce was predeceased by his wife, Joyce Nielsen, whose memory he cherished until his last days. He leaves behind a lasting legacy through his daughters, Lisa Nielsen and Colleen Albert. Bruce’s impact extended beyond professional achievements to touch the lives of all who knew him.
