Patchway Studios is delighted to announce the appointment of Laura Aviles, one of the UK’s most respected film and television executives, to its leadership team. Laura brings with her over 30 years of screen industry expertise and a proven track record of building world-class creative hubs.
Laura’s career spans production management and leadership roles at ITV, Tigress Productions, Mustang Films, BBC Bristol and BBC Worldwide as well as providing consultancy support to new independent production companies pitching to potential commissioners such as Netflix, Disney, National Geographic, BBC and Channel 4.
As Head of Production for BBC Earth Productions/BBC Worldwide, from 2015 Laura was responsible for a wide variety of projects with budgets ranging from the small to the multi-million pound. She also delivered the first feature film for global theatrical release produced under the UK/China co-production treaty, working with Shanghai Media Group.
Laura joins Patchway Studios following her highly successful tenure at The Bottle Yard Studios and Bristol Film Office where, as Head of Film, she was instrumental in the growth of the Bottle Yard, the creation of its award-winning expansion site TBY2, and led the promotion of Bristol as an outstanding filming location. With its significant recent growth in scripted production and impressive film and television history, Bristol itself received the City of Film award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, which is testament to the strong national and international profile the city now has within the industry.
