The Fernseh- und Kinotechnische Gesellschaft FKTG (Television and Cinema Technology Society) is one of Germany’s most long-established technical associations. It traces its origins to the fusion of the Deutsche Kinotechnische Gesellschaft, founded in 1920, with the Fernsehtechnische Gesellschaft, founded in 1952.
Following a successful online election in the first quarter of 2026, the newly elected board of the FKTG met this week in Mainz for its inaugural meeting and filled all board positions.
Professor Dr. Peter C. Slansky was elected as the new chairman, succeeding Professor Dr. Rainer Schäfer. Sonja Langhans will remain Vice Chair for the upcoming term. Claus Pfeifer will serve as treasurer, and Anna-Maria Daschner as secretary. Professor Dr. Jan Fröhlich, Dr. Christiane Janusch, Benedikt Krönung, Kim Seidler, and Professor Dr. Sebastian Vogt complete the board from 2026 to 2030.
Professor Dr. Peter C. Slansky takes on his new role with a clear vision for the future:
“I am very much looking forward to my new position, which presents many challenges but also fills me with pride and confidence.”
Sonja Langhans commented on her re-election: “I gratefully accept the renewed trust placed in me. I look forward to continuing the projects begun during my last term.”
Professor Dr. Rainer Schäfer, who did not seek re-election as chairman after four years, bid farewell with words of appreciation:
“It was a challenging yet enriching time, during which we accomplished a great deal together. I wish the new board much enjoyment in their task and a steady hand in everything that lies ahead.” A first major milestone for the new leadership team is the 31st FKTG Conference in November in Wuppertal.
