Take the survey to help the Film + TV Charity make work better for everyone working in our industry.
Why your help is so important
In 2019, more than 10,000 people working in film, TV, and cinema took part in the first Looking Glass Survey, uncovering a mental health emergency affecting 9 in 10 industry workers. The survey highlighted the impact that workplace culture, conditions, and the industry’s capability to support its talented workforce was having on their wellbeing.
It also gave The Film + TV Charity the evidence to begin a movement for change, enabling it to act by:
- Expanding the free mental health support services available through our Film and TV Support Line
- Launching the industry’s first confidential Bullying Advice Service
- Developing our specialist Work and Wellbeing Advice
- Creating our Wellbeing Check-in to support better mental health
- Establishing the Whole Picture Toolkit to embed mental health at every stage of production
Five years on, the charity wants to hear from you again – whether you work in production, post, or craft, on set or in an office, and whether you’re working as a freelancer or in a permanent role. You could be just starting out in the industry or in a senior position, creating content or helping to market, distribute, or exhibit it. Whatever your role in the film, TV, and cinema industry, and wherever you are in the UK, we want to hear from you.
The conversation about mental health in the workplace – and the things that contribute to how we’re all feeling – has started to change. But financial stresses, a production downturn, the impact of strikes, and widespread redundancies are all adding to the pressures many people in our industry are facing.
The Looking Glass Survey is your chance to tell The Film + TV Charity how these and other factors are impacting you and, crucially, where our support is needed the most. However you’re feeling, please take a few moments and help it to gather the evidence to make work better for everyone.
