Entries now open for the 16th BFDG Production Design Awards

Sep 17, 2026

The British Film Designers Guild (BFDG) is delighted to announce that entries are officially open for the 16th BFDG Production Design Awards. The awards bring together British and International Art Department talent to celebrate the best production design in film, TV commercials and music videos which have involved members of the BFDG over the past year. Two awards will also be presented to recognise individuals for their contributions to the Art Department: The Peter Lamont Spotlighting New Talent Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, 27 February, 2027, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London, bringing together industry leaders, creatives, craftspeople and sponsors to honour excellence in production design.

The BFDG is looking forward to another year of high profile entries in their film and TV categories. Winners from the 15th BFDG Awards last year included ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘Andor’ with Tom Hickox ‘The Shoemaker’ winning the award for Best Production Design, Music Video. Submissions are now being accepted for productions released between 1 January and 31st December 2026. To be eligible, at least one Head of Department (HOD) from each project must be a BFDG member.

Following feedback from BFDG members and former entrants, the 2026 categories have been revised to create a fairer, more representative structure, splitting TV Bands 3 & 4 into more distinct categories, separating Band 1 TV from Entertainment, and introducing a new category for Independent Feature Films under £5m. These changes aim to ensure productions are judged alongside others of a similar scale, format and type, while continuing to celebrate the breadth and excellence of production design across our industry.

BFDG Chairperson, Paul Frost said:

“The changes to this year’s categories reflect the feedback we have received from our members and previous entrants, and our commitment to making the Awards as fair and representative as possible. By creating more clearly defined categories, we hope to ensure that productions are judged alongside projects of a similar scale, format and ambition, while continuing to celebrate the extraordinary breadth, creativity and excellence of production design across the industry. We look forward to seeing the exceptional work that this year’s entrants will bring to the Awards”.
