Moderated by senior colourist/lecturer Dirk Meier BVK CSI, Yedlin and Wegner will be joined during the session by French DP Pascale Marin AFC and colourist Kevin Shaw CSI, president of the Colorist Society.

Developments in camera technology, lighting, LED volumes and post production mean that cinematographers now have more opportunities and choices than ever before in how they create and manipulate moving images for visual storytelling. Understanding the landscape and the impact of when, and when not, to exercise those opportunities and choices is of vital importance to cinematographers.

At Camerimage 2015 Steve Yedlin ASC (Glass Onion, Knives Out, Star Wars Vol 8) presented his display preparation demo in an effort to end the debate about the look of a specific digital camera. Instead, he demonstrated that high-end digital cinematography cameras can capture enough information to create all kinds of looks, including the emulation of photo-chemical filmstocks.
