Set in a call center in Bristol, England, the television sitcom Ruby Speaking focuses on the eponymous Ruby (played by Jayde Adams) and her colleagues. “It’s like a local-hero story,” says cinematographer Oona Menges, BSC, who was behind the camera for the series. “It was about trying to emphasise the emotions of each scene.” Menges worked with Panavision London to source the production’s camera and lens package, and in this video, she brings viewers inside her approach to the show’s cinematography, recalls getting her start as a film loader, and reflects on the information and support she finds from rental houses.
