DP Michael Bauman has won the Bafta for cinematography for One Battle After Another, marking his second major award of the season following his recent British Society of Cinematographers win. With the ASC Awards and the Oscars still to come, the Bafta victory further strengthens his momentum in what has become a standout year.
In the best film category, One Battle After Another took the top prize, capping a dominant night for the production. The film won six awards in total, making it the biggest winner at the 2026 ceremony.
One Battle After Another
Outstanding British film went to Hamnet, which also picked up leading actress for Jessie Buckley. Meanwhile, the film not in the English language award was claimed by Sentimental Value.
Elsewhere in the major categories, Robert Aramayo won leading actor for I Swear, while Wunmi Mosaku secured supporting actress for Sinners. Sean Penn took supporting actor for One Battle After Another.
Paul Thomas Anderson was named director for One Battle After Another, adding to the film’s haul. The film also won adapted screenplay and editing.
In the screenplay categories, Sinners won original screenplay. I Swear took casting, while Sinners also claimed original score for Ludwig Göransson.

In the craft categories, Frankenstein had a strong night, winning costume design, production design and make-up and hair. The special visual effects award went to Avatar: Fire and Ash, while F1 won sound.
The animated film award was won by Zootropolis 2, with Boong taking children’s and family film. In documentary, Mr Nobody Against Putin was named winner.
The outstanding debut by a British writer, director or producer award went to My Father’s Shadow, while Claire Binns, creative director of Picturehouse Cinemas and Picturehouse Entertainment, received the outstanding British contribution to cinema award.
I Swear
In the short film categories, This Is Endometriosis won British short film and Two Black Boys in Paradise won British short animation.
The EE rising star award, voted for by the public, was presented to Robert Aramayo, rounding off a strong night for the actor and for One Battle After Another, the ceremony’s clear standout.
