Deep-Light the cinematography platform founded by Natasha Braier ASC ADF (The Neon Demon, I Love Boosters), continues to grow as a global space for cinematographers seeking a more honest, experience-based approach to the craft and career.
Created out of a clear gap in the industry, Deep-Light was built to offer something beyond technical training. A place where cinematographers can engage directly with working DPs and have real conversations about authorship, collaboration, and the realities of sustaining a career. Since launching in 2025, the platform has grown into an international community of over 3,000 members across five continents, with all live programs selling out within days.
Earlier this year, Deep-Light hosted The Light Inside, a two-day in-person lab in Los Angeles led by cinematographer Bradford Young. The lab focused on the inner process behind the work: how cinematographers develop a personal visual language, stay connected to it under pressure, and make creative decisions from a place of clarity. The experience sold out within days and reinforced the demand for spaces that go beyond technique into the deeper layers of the craft.
Building on that momentum, Deep-Light will host its next live mentorship intensive on May 30th–31st, 2026.
The two-day online program, led by Braier, is designed for cinematographers navigating the transition into higher-level professional work. Rather than focusing on gear or theory, the mentorship centers on real-world decision-making ( from early conversations with directors through final delivery ) alongside candid discussions about leadership, on-set dynamics, creative alignment, and the pressures that shape the work.
“Deep-Light is everything I wish I had when I was coming up,” said Braier. “Not just technical knowledge, but real conversations about how this career actually works. How to navigate power dynamics, build a team, hold your voice under pressure. And also how to sustain a life around it. The work-life balance in this profession is a real challenge, and no one really prepares you for that. These are the things that shape your path, and they’re rarely talked about openly.”
In addition to its mentorship programs, Deep-Light’s growing ecosystem includes:
- The Reel Clinic, developed with industry agents, focused on how cinematographers position their work and translate it into real opportunities
- Through Their Eyes, a long-form interview series with leading cinematographers, combining in-depth conversations with a practical component where each DP lights their own interview
- An active global community offering ongoing exchange, support, and direct access to working professionals
Featured cinematographers in the series include Autumn Durald Arkapaw, Michael Bauman, Drew Daniels, Lol Crawley, and Bradford Young.
