CVP announces PYXIS 12K Pro filmmakers workshop

Shooting the Sahara with Dale Campbell

CVP and Blackmagic Design invite you to an exclusive event on Thursday 22nd October, with cinematographer Dale Campbell, as he takes you behind the scenes of his latest PYXIS 12K project: a cinematic journey from the streets of Marrakech to the dunes of the Sahara.

Through finished footage, behind-the-scenes material and practical demonstrations, Dale will reveal how he adapted PYXIS 12K to meet each creative challenge, from anamorphic fashion shoots and fast handheld sequences to vehicle-mounted filming, available-light night shooting and temperatures exceeding 40°C.

This session will cover:

Anamorphic filmmaking and choosing the right resolution
See how Dale used DZOFilm Arcana anamorphics across the full 3:2 sensor to create expansive cinematic images, and discover why he moved between 4K, 8K, 9K and 12K to balance resolution, sensor area, readout and data for every shot.

Building the camera around the shoot
Explore six different configurations, from lightweight handheld setups to vehicle-mounted rigs, showcasing the modular design and adaptability of PYXIS.

You’ll also have the opportunity to get hands-on with PYXIS 12K, explore different configurations and speak directly with Dale and Blackmagic Design specialists.
